The American Library Association (ALA) announced the top books, video and audiobooks for children and young adults – including the Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Newbery and Printz awards – at its Midwinter Meeting in San Diego. Selected awards include:

John Newbery Medal: “Moon over Manifest,” written by Clare Vanderpool
Randolph Caldecott Medal:
“A Sick Day for Amos McGee,” illustrated by Erin E. Stead
Michael L. Printz Award
: “Ship Breaker,” written by Paolo Bacigalupi
Coretta Scott King (Author) Book Award:
“One Crazy Summer,” written by Rita Williams-Garcia
