Happy Wednesday, all. I hope you are all finding some peace during this trying time.
I wanted to provide some updates from MLS.
I’ve been in contact with our legislators on the Library Legislative Caucus to voice support to close libraries across the state, in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Governor Baker, namely: practice social distancing, limiting gatherings, and caring for our most vulnerable members of the public, in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. I also shared three statements (see below) made by our professional organizations, and a note that many of our libraries will continue to serve their communities through virtual methods, including phone and email consultations, eBooks, database access, etc.

I will share news as soon as I hear anything.
MLS and MBLC are continuing to update their COVID-19 Resource Guide. Please let us know what resources would be helpful to you, or if you have any questions.
MA is very lucky to have some talented authors and illustrators as library supporters. Jarrett J. Krosoczka and Mo Willems have started daily webcasts for kids of all ages. And Grace Lin highlights Authors Everywhere, where authors and illustrators present book talks, read alouds, demos, and tips.

You’ll find more resources on our guide’s newest tab, Stay Engaged, Have Fun, Relieve Stress.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a host of resources, including a webform that can be used to ask questions related to COVID-19. I have submitted a request on our membership’s behalf about material disinfection, as many of you have requested guidance on this topic. I will share the response when I receive it. Here is the link, should you want to use the form and resources for your own questions: https://www.cdc.gov/cdc-info/index.html
I’ll be in touch with more info soon, but please don’t hesitate to reach out with additional questions or concerns.
Thanks, and be well,
Sarah Sogigian
