Dear MLS Members,

Happy Sunny Wednesday!

I hope you are all doing well as we finally get into some spring weather! I have a few brief updates to share:

  • We’re all awaiting the Governor’s Guidelines to re-open the state, scheduled to be presented on Monday, May 18. He shared some initial information earlier this week, which I encourage you to review. As anticipated, opening will be done in phases, and while I’m hopeful that libraries will be mentioned in his plan, we’ll review the details to see where libraries fit in with these phases.
  • MLS and MBLC continue to work on providing some guidance to assist with your recovery efforts. Those will be shared asap. You can review the notes from the info sessions we hosted, along with the summary of the sessions, on our resource guide.
  • I’ve spent some time this week reflecting on the past 2 months, since MLS closed our offices on March 17. I am heartened and touched by the comments I have received from many of you about our work. I want to share how grateful I am for our incredible team that has continued to keep MLS running. I thank our staff, board, partners, and stakeholders for being so responsive, dedicated, and patient as we all navigate this time together.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Sarah
