The Massachusetts Library System (MLS) is pleased to announce the launch of the Member Train-the-Trainer Program for MLS member library staff.
Program Overview
The Member Train-the-Trainer Program will prepare MLS member library staff to design and deliver active, effective learning experiences for the Massachusetts library community.
Participants will bring their knowledge and experience in one or more library-related topics. They will learn to apply adult learning principles, use the required MLS training framework, develop instructional materials, practice delivering training, and revise their work based on feedback.
Prior training experience is not required. We are looking for people who:
- Have useful knowledge and experience to share.
- Are interested in helping library staff improve their work practices.
- Are prepared to work closely with MLS staff.
- Are willing to follow MLS training standards and incorporate feedback.
Selected applicants will be invited to participate in the three-day Train-the-Trainer program and hired as part-time temporary employees of MLS through BiblioTemps for the required program hours.
After the program, MLS may invite some participants who successfully complete it to develop and deliver training for MLS. Those selected for this work will be employed as part-time temporary MLS trainers through BiblioTemps. Future opportunities will be on an as-needed basis and are not guaranteed.
Program Schedule
The Train-the-Trainer program will be held in person at the MLS Marlborough office, 33 Boston Post Road West, Suite 400, Marlborough, MA 01752.
- Monday, October 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Participants must attend and fully participate on all three days.
BiblioTemps Employment and Compensation
Selected applicants will be invited to participate in the three-day Train-the-Trainer program and hired as part-time temporary employees of MLS through BiblioTemps for the required program hours. Participants will be paid $32 per hour.

Future MLS Training Opportunities
MLS may invite some participants who successfully complete the program to develop and deliver training for MLS. Those selected for this work will be employed as part-time temporary MLS trainers through BiblioTemps.
Future opportunities will be based on MLS’s needs and program priorities and are not guaranteed.
