The MLS Executive Board is very pleased to announce that we have named Sarah Sogigian as the new Executive Director of MLS starting immediately. Many of you are familiar with Sarah as she has been with MLS since our founding and she has been serving as the interim director for MLS since June. She steps into this role from her previous one as the Consulting and Training Services Director. She brings experience with collaboration across many state organizations and also had previous experience with the Metrowest Massachusetts Regional Library System. Sarah’s experience with youth services, including many years hosting teen summits and managing the hugely successful Massachusetts summer library programs with our partners at MBLC and library colleagues are among her accomplishments. She was also named a Mover and Shaker by Library Journal and has served on the board of YALSA. We look forward to seeing what Sarah has to offer as MLS continues to evolve as an organization.
We hope that you will join her at a couple of events around the state to welcome her to this new permanent position and to discuss your ideas and visions for MLS. We will have a reception with light refreshments from noon to 1pm on April 22nd at the Northampton MLS office. Members are also welcome to attended the executive board meeting that follows, with an RSVP. Additionally, Sarah will also hold a session at the MLA Conference on May 21 at 11:30 am to come and meet her. There will also be an open house when the new location in Marlborough is settled.
Sarah’s contact information remains the same: sarah@masslibsystem.org and 508-357-2121 X311 or 866-627-7228 x311 so please feel free to reach out to her at any point.
Please join me in congratulating Sarah on her new role at MLS!
Thank you,
Clare Dombrowski
